After the layout of the website has been settled, we then explored the color matching and detailed issues by producing color prototype in Illustrator. Home page- registered user:The main content area includes sections such as "Quick Pick"- a random wine recommendation generator, similar to Google's "I'm feeling lucky" feature, "Wine of the week", featuring our choice of a great wine, "Wine Terms Explained"- a randomly generated pull-out from our glossary of wine terms, and "Wine in the News"- a news article featuring wine or wine-related issues. The right column displays personalized account info for registered users, including shopping lists, favorites and friends. It also contains information on local wine events in the user's area.
What to buy > That Suits Me:This is an example search page that the user would encounter if they chose "What to Buy > That Suits Me" from the left nav bar. The user can select from any or all categories, such as color, flavor, price range etc. If they choose nothing, they will still get a recommendation based on a popular wine that most people seem to like. They can also limit their search to only highly rated wines, wines their friends like or wines that are hot right now.
What to buy > That Suits Me > Not Sure? :If the user is completely new to wine drinking, they may not know what color or flavor of wine they would like. If they aren't sure, we offer them the option to take a short quiz to find out what we think they might like.
Search ResultsThe search results page displays a listing of recommendations based on the search criteria. It is sorted by average grapevine user rating by default, but the user can also choose to sort by price, type of wine (red or white), and winery. Clicking on link (name of the wine) will bring them to a detailed page with more information.
Search Detail pageThe detail page provides the user with more information on why it is a good wine. We include a short sentence on why we recommend it, a blurb on what the critics say about it, and our translation of that critque in simple terms (Grapevine notes). There may also be comments from friends or other grapevine members if applicable. From this screen the user may choose to go back to their search results, print the label, or add the wine to their shopping list or favorites.
